'Kaali' is the soul of 'Agneepath': Priyanka Chopra

Actress Priyanka Chopra, who will be seen playing the female lead opposite Hrithik Roshan in " Agneepath", asserts that her character is the soul of the movie.

"The best thing about Kaali (her character in the film) is that she is Vijay's strength. She is the soul, happiness and naughtiness in the film... So to prepare, I had to just follow Karan," the 29-year-old actress said at the unveiling of the second look of the film.

Priyanka has tried her best to keep this Maharashtrian character as different as possible from the character of Sweety in "Kaminey".

"I was playing a Maharashtrian girl for the second time. When Karan Malhotra and I discussed the film, we were very clear that we have to try to keep this character as different as possible from my character of Sweety in 'Kaminey' because the personalities of both the girls are different.

"Karan was very clear-minded about Kaali's character. So, it was very easy for me," said Priyanka who was recently seen in "Don 2: The King is Back".

For 2012, besides "Agneepath", Priyanka has "Barfee", "Teri Meri Kahaani" and "Krrish 2" slated to release.

"Agneepath" will release Jan 26 and also features Sanjay Dutt and Rishi Kapoor in key roles.

Priyanka Chopra give a miss to SRK's party

Shah Rukh Khan decided to celebrate the release of Don 2 at Mannat on Saturday night. And while all his friends including Farhan Akhtar, Ritesh Sidhwani, Chunkey and Bhavna Pandey and Mushtaq Sheikh chose to join in his celebrations, lead actress Priyanka Chopra was conspicuous by her absence.

A source from the party informed Mumbai Mirror, "Everybody at the party were heard whispering about Priyanka's absence. She is a very good friend of Shah Rukh Khan. She has been by his side for all the promotional events of Don 2. She had been a part of most of the parties at Mannat as well. It wasn't that she was traveling on Saturday. She was very much in the city. And till date, she has never missed SRK's parties."

At the last party held at Mannat during Eid, Priyanka was there from the very beginning. The actress had also cheered for Khan's IPL team Kolkata Knight Riders throughout the cricket season. Thus, her absence at the party last Saturday did raise a few eyebrows.

While industry insiders believe that there could be a bigger reason behind her non-attendance at the Don 2 party, a very close friend of the actress reasoned, "Priyanka was busy shooting at Madh Island. Then she had to come back to Versova. Her parents were leaving town. So she was busy."

As a cop, I can't be a baby doll: Priyanka Chopra

Kareena Kapoor may just have done wonders with 'Chammak Challo', Katrina Kaif may be the newest 'Chikni Chameli' in town while Vidya Balan is still making hearts go 'Ooh Laa Laa'. However the original 'desi girl' Priyanka Chopra is having none of it and is going against the tide with an out and out formal look in 'Don 2'. While she is breaking the norms of being a conventional beauty on the move in a Hindi film, one wonders whether some more 'latka jhatka' at this stage of her career may have done the trick.
